SecondBite Winter Tax Appeal Food Relief Charity Recipient Evie Tax-Deductibe Donation

At just 23 years old, Evie is battling numerous challenges including a recent diagnosis of autism – and food insecurity.

Evie, like so many others, faces the harsh realities of financial insecurity. Reliant on a Centrelink pension and NDIS support, she is often forced to make agonising choices between essential needs like food and medication.

With the increased cost of basic essential items, Evie’s weekly grocery shop is now often more than $100.

Evie is proud and fiercely independent. She was initially drawn to volunteering on the outreach bus as a means of combating social anxiety, but soon found herself benefiting from the food relief provided by SecondBite.

It was one of Evie’s fellow volunteers who noticed that she was struggling and offered her help. Now that this support has changed her life, Evie says, “People need to be able to know that there is someone to go to ask for help. I think that’s just what I would say to everybody, it’s okay to ask for help”.

Donations to SecondBite over $2 are tax-deductible
