Meet Brady. Brady is in Year 6, lives in Western Australia and is a SecondBite volunteer! Brady is a state finalist for the Fred Hollows Humanity Award and has received an honourable mention for his volunteer work at SecondBite and his commitment to sustainability, including educating his peers and diverting edible food away from landfill.
The Humanity Award is an annual program run by The Fred Hollows Foundation which recognises Year 6 students in Australia who display compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives.
Superstar Brady has been doing incredible work spreading awareness and educating his peers about food rescue and the importance of minimising waste.
Just a few of Brady’s hands-on volunteering roles & initiatives:
– Food collection from donation drives at Coles every month
– Bunnings sausage sizzles
– Kickstarted a meals project with his school, SecondBite & Salvation Army
– Participated in the Enactus ECU Sustainability Festival
– Assembled toilet roll hampers
– Poster design
Most importantly Brady educates everyone that SecondBite is the best food rescue charity in Australia and we couldn’t agree more! The future is in good hands.
