Meet Issy – one of our youngest volunteers
One of SecondBite’s youngest volunteers – Issy Hunt – is truly inspiring. Issy is a year 9 student who joins Rotary Club members from around Melbourne at the Prahran Market each week to collect fresh fruit and veggies for people in need.
Issy told us, “I find coming and being a part of the Rotary collection group every week is such a simple thing to do on my part while also making a really positive difference to the lives of people who are really struggling for enough healthy nourishing foods.”
“I feel now is an especially important time to be working alongside organisations like SecondBite, because their work is helping families and people who are hungrier than ever after experiencing the effects of COVID 19.”
“Knowing I’m helping the community in a way that is so hands on makes me feel so happy.””It’s also really nice to get to know those working alongside me, all of whom are, in ways very different to me, but are all so kind and refreshing to be around. I love learning from them and listening to their individual stories.”
THANK YOU Issy and the many Rotarians who have been collecting food at the Prahran Market from when SecondBite first started – more than 15 years ago!
