Winter can be tough for many Australians, especially those who have trouble putting food on the table. This year, Coles and SecondBite are teaming up once again for the Winter Appeal, a critical campaign and part of their corporate charity partnership to assist individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Running from Wednesday, July 17th to Tuesday, July 30th, you can make a real difference with a few everyday items at your local Coles Supermarket.
The Appeal: Simple Steps to Help
The Coles SecondBite Winter Appeal is intended to make it simple for you to participate. Here’s how to get involved:
1. Purchase a $2 Donation Card.
At the checkout, you can buy a $2 donation card which enables SecondBite to provide up to ten meals to those in need, providing warmth and sustenance throughout the chilly winter months.
2. Purchase Participating Products.
Another way to contribute is by purchasing participating products at Coles. Here’s how each purchase helps:
- Chobani: 10 cents donation for every Chobani Yogurt and Oat Milk product sold from 17 July to 13 August 2024.
- Mount Franklin: 10 cents donation for every Mount Franklin product sold (still or sparkling water) from 26 June to 30 July 2024, up to a maximum donation limit of $200,000.
- Nando’s: 20 cents donation for every Nando’s PERi PERi sauce 250g, Nando’s Perinaise mayonnaise 465g, Nando’s marinade 262g and Nando’s Sweet Chilli Jam 285g product sold, from 17 July to 13 August 2024.
- The Natural Chip Co: 10 cents donation for every Natural Chip Co. Potato Chips 175g product sold (Sea Salt 175g, Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper 175g, Aussie BBQ 175g, Honey Soy Chicken 175g, Salt and Vinegar 175g) and every Natural Chip Company Tortilla Strips product sold (Sea Salt 225g, Chilli & Lime 225g) from 17 July to 30 July 2024, up to a maximum donation limit of $50,000.

Since 2011, Coles and SecondBite have joined forces for greater impact and through this Corporate Charity Partnership, we have been able to significantly increase our reach. Coles has redirected unsold, edible food from its stores to SecondBite, resulting in over 250 million meals. This not only helps reduce hunger but also lowers food waste, benefiting both the community and the environment.
