Freezers to store meals for bushfire affected communities
SecondBite is partnering with Emergency Relief charity partners to provide communities affected by the devastating bushfires in 2019-2020 with access to nutritious, frozen meals.
Thanks to funding by the Federal Department of Social Services, SecondBite will be providing 100 units of 500 litre chest freezers to Emergency Relief charity partners for use to store pre-prepared frozen meals. While SecondBite will own the freezers, our charity partners will run and maintain them.
We will deliver the chest freezers to each organization and ensure that local communities will have easy access to meals by keeping the freezers stocked with regular deliveries of healthy pre-prepared meals. In Victoria, we will be partnering with FareShare who will cook and package a range of nutritious ready to eat meals including pastas, casseroles, soups, curries, tagines and braises. Each meal is packed with protein and fresh vegetables to provide people with as much nutrition as possible.
The first freezers have been purchased and will be delivered soon to communities.
Thank you to the Federal Department of Social Services and our Emergency Relief charity partners for their support and participation in this program to help locals affected by the bushfires.
