The impact of COVID as caused a huge spike in the need for food relief from students doing it tough as a result of losing work and connections due to lockdowns ad closures. Since the start of COVID, SecondBite and FareShare have worked together to end waste and end hunger by supplying students with nutritious pre-prepared meals. Study Melbourne, an initiative of the Victorian Government, provided SecondBite with funding to deliver food relief to students during the pandemic and through the current recovery.
SecondBite rescued produce that would otherwise go to waste, and FareShare used the produce to cook nutritious, culturally appropriate, free meals to help alleviate some of the stress that students are currently facing.
