FareShare meals provide more holisitic food support to homelessness charity Dignity
As a merged entity, SecondBite | FareShare can provide a more holistic solution to our charity partners by combining SecondBite’s fresh, nutritious produce and FareShare’s cooked, ready-to-eat meals.
The homelessness support charity Dignity in New South Wales is one SecondBite charity partner that now receives FareShare meals. And the impact has been instant, according to the people at risk of homelessness who frequent Dignity’s food relief branches in need of a comforting meal.
“I can’t believe this! Most of the time I don’t bother to eat anything myself and only make something for my son. These meals have been a lifesaver, I am actually eating and looking after me,” says one of Dignity’s food relief recipients.
Dignity supports their community members via a volunteer program with incredible volunteer cooks preparing hundreds of meals every week using SecondBite produce. In 2024, Dignity received more than 40,000kgs of fresh, nutritious food from SecondBite.
But in recent times, the need has grown. Enter FareShare meals.
“FareShare meals have really helped us rise to the challenge of the increasing demand,” says Dignity CEO Suzanne Hopman.
“We often hear feedback of how delicious they are and how much of a difference the meals make for someone doing it tough. They’re very much appreciated.”
FareShare meals help Dignity maintain their food relief program, which assists people at risk of homelessness. One way is by easing the financial burden of putting food on the table.

Of course, SecondBite still regularly delivers a plethora of fresh produce and everyday essentials to Dignity too, which their team and volunteers continue to cook into their own tasty meals, as well as handing out directly to people doing it tough at the moment.
The combination of SecondBite produce and FareShare meals creates a more comprehensive solution to hunger, which helps Dignity focus on their great range of services that empower people at risk of homelessness to prevent it from occurring, and on their temporary accommodation guest homes that help them respond to people currently experiencing homelessness.
