On Saturday the 29th of October 2011, the MasterChef Judges held a dinner in support of SecondBite and Sacred Heart Mission, in the Mission Dining Hall. A wonderful, fun and interactive night was hosted by Matt Preston, and guests were treated to a gourmet experience with courses prepared by fellow judges George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan. To sweeten the deal, dessert was prepared by one of Melbourne's top sweet-connoisseurs Darren Purchese, of Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio.

I had the privilege of being invited to take some photos of the new SecondBite Fresh NED training program yesterday. Headed by SecondBite R+D Coordinator, volunteers from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Melbourne discussed various food safety topics and scenarios. They were given various prepackaged items in various conditions and points of 'use by' and asked to discuss if they would or wouldn't given the product out at the agency and why.
Later in the afternoon the room was split into to teams and sent to the kitchen where they were instructed to make healthy sweet and savory dishes in 20 minutes.
Congrats to Liza on a really interactive and positive training program that was equally as engaging as it was informative.
