SecondBite is committed to making a positive difference to people by identifying sources of nutritious surplus fresh food and produce that might otherwise go to waste and facilitating its safe and timely distribution to agencies and people in need.
In 2009, we exceeded our goal of 600 tonnes and collected and redistributed 702 tonnes! Thanks to all our supporters who helped make this happen, we look forward to a successful 2010.

SecondBite's report titled More Hunger More Waste exposes the increase in the need for food from emergency food relief agencies and was released May 16th, 2010. It was highlighted on ABC national news and ABC radio in Hobart and Melbourne.
We were thrilled to be joint winners with FareShare in the Community Category of the 2010 Premier’s Sustainability Awards on Thursday 22nd April. On the night Katy Barfield our CEO dedicated the award ”to the agencies that provide nutritious, culturally appropriate meals, day in day out to people who would otherwise not have access to fresh food, this is for you”.
